Café Barista Job Responsibilities:
A Kickback Barista does a little bit of everything; the most common duties are listed below, but we work as a team to achieve whatever needs to be accomplished—even if some of those things are not in our job descriptions.  Primary responsibilities include:

  • Craft amazing beverages, specialty coffees, and other innovative drinks skillfully and consistently.
  • Ensure a remarkable customer experience when assisting customers and taking orders.
  • Prepare and serve food items.
  • Describe menu items and suggests products to customers.
  • Educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu and answering questions.
  • Open and close café according to procedures.
  • Promote the café, attracting new customers and retaining existing ones with a positive attitude and exemplary service.
  • Stock and maintain supply inventory following procedures.
  • Maintain equipment by following operating instructions; performing regular cleaning and preventative maintenance; maintaining supplies; call for equipment repairs when necessary.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations including cleaning and sanitizing work areas, utensils, and equipment and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.
  • Clean service and seating areas and restrooms.
  • Participate in ongoing in-service/on-the-job training.
  • Other job duties as needed.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Prior café, coffee shop or food service experience a plus.
  • Position requires frequent standing, squatting, bending, twisting from the waist, walking, and use of arms and hands.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.

Starting Date: Mid-late May, 2021.

Work Hours: Weekday/Weekend morning and evening shifts available; hours between 5:30a-10:30p; additional hours and adjustments as needed.

Salary: DOE, starting at $10-12+/hour + tips.

Café Manager Job Responsibilities:
The Café Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day store operations, maintaining Kickback’s high standards, and creating a positive environment that provides fast, efficient, and friendly service.  A Kickback Manager does a bit of everything; the most common duties are listed below, but we work as a team to achieve whatever needs to be accomplished—even if some of those things are not in our job descriptions.  Primary responsibilities include:

  • Ensure a remarkable customer experience is provided by all staff.
  • Hire, train and guide store employees in creating exceptional customer experiences.
  • Monitor and manage store staff by regularly conducting performance assessments, providing feedback and setting high goals to improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide ongoing training and development to all team members in the areas of operating standards, customer service, and product knowledge.
  • Identify, address and be proactive in resolving customer/store problems and issues and obtaining customer feedback and recommending changes as appropriate.
  • Craft amazing beverages, specialty coffees, and other innovative drinks skillfully and consistently.
  • Ensure that all company drink and food recipes and procedures are followed, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards.
  • Add new menu items based on seasonality and customers’ preferences
  • Develop and manage work schedules to provide appropriate coverage of store activities.
  • Prepare and serve food items.
  • Educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu, suggesting products and answering questions.
  • Open and close café according to procedures.
  • Possess ability to perform all POS duties and front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures.
  • Promote the café, attracting new customers and retaining existing ones with a positive attitude and exemplary service.
  • Place orders, stock and maintain supply/product inventories to ensure adequate supply
  • Maintain equipment by following operating instructions; performing regular cleaning and preventative maintenance; maintaining supplies; calling for equipment repairs when necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy customer and work environment by following cleaning and sanitation procedures while ensuring the store, facilities and equipment meet the highest standards of cleanliness.
  • Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar.
  • Work in collaboration with owners and other support staff to continually refine and improve business operations.
  • Participate in ongoing in-service/on-the-job training.
  • Other job duties as needed.

  • Position requires frequent standing, squatting, bending, twisting from the waist, walking, and use of arms and hands.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Ability to acquire Village of Oregon Operator’s License for serving alcohol.
  • Certified Food Protection Manager within 90days of hire (training provided).

Starting Date: Mid-May, 2021.

Work Hours: Full-time, varied, generally between the hours of 5am and 11pm.

Salary: DOE, starting at $15/hour + tips.
