Ellen & Claude Update: Thanksgiving 2015

Dan Donoghue

We’re retired…yeah!! It’s been an adjustment, but it has been nice having our own schedule, and being able to do things without worrying about store hours. At age 70 it is about time. Our dog is happy because we have been able to take him to the dog park more often. Our family is happy because we have been able to do things with them that were difficult while we were still working. Our friends are happy because we are more flexible with our time.

We have left The Chocolate Caper in good hands. Dan and Elizabeth not only use the same ingredients and recipes, but they have added many of their own touches and new products. They are patient with us when we come in to say hi even if they are busy. They remind us of ourselves when we were young and enthusiastic and just beginning our new business. We do miss our customers and the many conversations and gifts we shared over the years.

Our letters usually had a few words about what had happened during the previous year. We treated ourselves to a trip to Kauai as a retirement gift. We went to Colorado this summer to attend our god daughter’s wedding in the mountains. We spent 10 days in Rocky Mt. National Park before the wedding. It was wonderful – just a little cold getting out of sleeping bags in the morning.
Since this is part of a blog you will be hearing from us again. For now, we want to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving.
-Claude & Ellen
